I love how classic and professional this looks! Great use of the different colors of wood.

I've started a new blog this year, and right now we're focusing on Art Deco! I've featured this image on one of my blog posts (giving you credit and linking the image back here to this page, of course)!!! The article should be live within a few days if you'd like to see it. It will be titled "Art Deco" and will be at my blog site: charcoalstereo.com. (And of course, if you don't want it to be featured, let me know and I'll remove it.)

Way too awesome. Do you remember ballpark numbers for the material cost and time put into this desk?

That's fantastic.  Love the little details like the vent cover on the inner panel.

Amazing work.

This is absolutely beautiful, and must've earned you an A+ in Wood Shop! :)
More than just furniture, it's also a timeless object of beauty. You must be very proud.

Thanks. I never took wood shop. This desk has its fit and finish issues. I suppose I consider it a piece of art deco rather then a serious piece of furniture.

Well, you could've fooled me. :)
Any other art deco pieces coming in the near future?

I have some other works I have done on my page as well. Right now I'm planning on an art deco table top clock.

That is amazing :) such craftsmanship :) are you a carpenter? What woods are used here? Where did that wonderful grate come from? How long did this take to make? Sorry for all of the questions, this is just amazing :).

The desk is constructed of mahogany, maple, and a small amount of birch. I got the grate from online. I'm not sure were exactly. [link] is one site that has them. It took about a week.

wow, I love it! Simple enough, but still really fleshed out. I was actually just wondering about some art deco furniture recently. I also love that grate on the inside there :)

Thanks. This is a new desk I built in 1930's art deco style. The reason the grate is there is to let my computer tower breath without loosing the over all theam. It was actually made as a replacement grate for older buildings, I had to modify it with a grinder and drill 4 holes. It is made of cast nickle plated brass just like vents of the period. The desk is also made with materials of the period including Maple and Mahogany. [link] sells some art deco pieces if you look through site.

I second the notion of the desk being absolutly gorgeous. It is simple yet bursting with style. The mixture of woods and stain coloration really stands the piece out quite well. I've been inspired to make something artdeco now. thx
